Angel of the Lord 2 is a loose sequel to the Christmas fairy directed by Jiri Strach and Ivan Trojan and Jiri Dvorak in the leading roles.
Petronel, an angel, is still working at the Heaven’s gates but is cofident that he deserves a better function. His everlasting tempter Uriah, a devil, takes up tempting him. All one has to do to know all that God knows is pick an apple from the tree of knowledge! And then, the route to the well-deserved acknowledgement is free.
Petronel and Uriah than proceed to argue about the apple, ant the results are catastrophic. The precious fruit falls all the way down to the Earth. The confused angel and his friend, the devil-tempter, have to quickly enter the human world, find the apple of Knowledge and bring it back. The night before Saint Nicolase’s day they get tangled up in a peculiar whirl. They meet little Agnes and her beautiful mother, a crew of deceitful carrolers, the greedy Košťál and the likable Sausage-seller. Before they manage to find the apple and bring it back where it belongs, they first have to endure a great adventure and get through quite a few dangerous setups. And after a row of both human and divine trials, our heroes find out that the true route to knowledge lies in knowing one’s own self, in discovering the power of riendship, in love and the will to forgive.
The Angel of the Lord was released ten years ago and soon, it became a fairytale evergreen. It belongs amongst the most popular TV movies and every year, it is one of the prime parts of the holiday broadcast with a large audience. The intention of the sequel is to bring the two main characters of Uriah and Petronel back on the silver screen, to preserve the poetics of the first movie, and to create a completely new, unique story that will entertain the whole family.
